A home health agency has the primary function of delivering health
care services to qualified people in their place of residence.

Types of Home Care Agencies:
    Licensed Home Care - operates under state regulations and is
                                       monitored by the state

    Medicare Home Care - operates under federal government (Medicare)
                                       Regulations/Conditions of Participation.
                                       Monitored by HCFA under contract with state.

    Medicaid - operates under state regulations

  • Voluntary Accreditation Organizations:
        JCAHO - Operated by a private organization and is required by many
                       insurance companies for reimbursement. Have "Deemed                    Status"

        CHAP - Operated by the National League of Nursing. Some insurance
                    companies will accept CHAP accreditation. Have "Deemed                 Status"
