Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Programs

A QAPI program in home health, hospice, and personal attendant services (PAS) agencies is a systematic, data-driven method to identify indicators that reflect outcomes of care and quality of life for patients. It is a requirement for all certified Medicare agencies and for most state licensed agencies.

Core elements include data collection, analysis and evaluation of the data, and identification of improvement areas. Staff engagement is key in identifying problems and implementing solutions to ensure a collaborative effort towards quality improvement within the agency.

While QAPI activities may seem overwhelming or even tedious at times, the benefits of a compliance-driven program can help maintain high standards for care, increase referrals, and meet agency goals like improving outcomes and STAR ratings. Promoting a culture of quality and improvement supports your mission and ultimately improves the quality of care for the patient.

We know that administrators often are overwhelmed with agency responsibilities. HealthCare ConsultLink has helped many agencies establish their QAPI programs and provides ongoing QAPI support contracts that can be customized to your needs. If you are looking to outsource your QAPI, please contact the office for more information. We can help!
